19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
